October Currently and a Giveaway!

Hi friends!  I haven't blogged since last month's Currently.  Oops.  The last few months have been a whirlwind, like usual.  I don't know how you all find the time to blog in August and September!  Clearly, I haven't figured out your secrets just yet!  Here's to hoping I can blog more than once this month! :)  Make sure you keep reading until the end for an amazing giveaway!

Listening:  Love Imagine Dragons.  And Pandora.

Loving:  Fall is my absolute favorite season.  I love the smells, the foods, the decorations, and Halloween!  Unfortunately, here in Ohio, it hasn't turned into fall yet.  We have the craziest weather.  On Friday night, we had a wicked thunderstorm.  Today, we are expecting more thunderstorms and possible tornados.  Please come soon, fall!!!

Thinking:  I am happy to be back in blog-land!  Beyond the crazy start to the school year, my time has been taken up by some personal issues and sickness.  I experienced pneumonia for the first time in my life... oh my!  I am finally feeling better and am glad to be back. :)

Wanting:  I have not had a pumpkin spice latte yet and I NEED one NOW.

Needing:  Wouldn't a classroom maid be great?  I sure could use someone to straighten up my desks at the end of the day, clean up my massive piles, and help me de-clutter.  I am accepting applications.

Trick or Treat:  I have a great treat for you today!  See below :)

This summer, I was contacted by a company named EduKate.  Not only does the company have a great name, they also have a wonderful mission.  Check it out:

"Globally, there is an enormous, devestating gender gap when it comes to education. Of the 793 million illiterate people worldwide, approximately 2/3 of them are female. Within the developing world, girls are challenged in attaining an education by prejudice, child marriage, child labor, and sex trafficking. 1 in 7 girls are married by the time that they are 15, and most begin having children within the year, which prevents further education, and continues the cycle of poverty. However, research has proven that when you educate and empower girls you break the cycle of poverty for generations to come. Education gives them the knowledge to be healthier, live more sustainably, and be effective citizens. Then they are able to pass the information on to their children. EduKate hopes to change the status quo by supporting education for girls through partnership with organizations that work directly with girls to provide access to education

EduKate sells locally and sustainably made tote bags and iPhone cases, and then sends 1/3 of its proceeds to non-profits in Guatemala, Tanzania, and Cambodia. These organizations have been chosen based on their commitment to the mentorship and support of the girls that they are sponsoring financially. EduKate hopes to create a community of women and girls that are dedicated to helping their global sisters attain an education. They hope to make the world a better place, striving to empower girls internationally and women locally. Edukate is a socially conscious business, focusing on the people and the planet, and takes great pride in the quality and sustainability of their products, and hopes to popularize this business model."

Awesome, right?!  Allison, the founder of EduKate, has donated a tote bag for me to giveaway to one of my readers!  EduKate hooked me up with a tote bag this summer and I absolutely love it.  I have been using it as my school bag this year and have had several teachers stop and ask me where I got it from.  It is the perfect size, very sturdy, has lots of storage, and is cute, too!  I am PICKY about school bags, so it's pretty exciting to have one that I love.  Check them out:

  2. I love that I can switch from capris to good old track pants for lounging around on the weekends! I also love the changing of the leaves. On a personal note, I am glad to hear you are getting over your pneumonia. I also have not blogged for over a month, and at this rate it is going to be longer. I have had a lot going on in my life also. Take care of YOURSELF first...then you will have more to give!
