Stop the World, I'm about to blog!

Hello friends!  Let's just pretend I've been blogging on a regular basis!  :)

While I was gone, I missed my one-year blogiversay!  I started this blog last summer when I was cooped up in our basement since we were getting new carpet in every room of the house!  It has been an amazing year of collaboration, new friends, and new ideas!  Thank you SO much for continuing to follow my teaching adventures!

I am also excited to announce that I have reached 500 followers!  Wahoo!!!  I will be having a giveaway very soon!  I have some fabulous contributors on board, so get ready for some amazing prizes!  If you would like to contribute something to my giveaway, send me an email by Friday and I will share a Google Doc with you and add you to the list of contributors!  {}

The past two months have been a whirlwind!  I am happy to say that I am finally on summer vacation and more than ready to catch back up with the bloggy world!

I had a fabulous end of the school year!  My teammates and I did an end of the year balloon countdown for the first time.  We blew up balloons and put a strip of paper in each one with a fun activity {and popped one each day}.  We had a bubblegum day, shoeless day, movie day, lunch in the classroom day, reading outside day, and a silent snowball fight with cotton balls!  The kids loved it and it really added some excitement to the end of the year.

Every year, we have a student talent show on the last day of school.  It is always priceless to see the students perform!  The teachers usually contribute something fantastic, too.  This year, we made a video!  I was thrilled to not have to perform on the stage :)  The teacher at the beginning and end of the video is retiring after working many years at our school!  You can catch me around 1:30 {not being able to put the sunglasses on my head!}  I'm harder to see at the end, but I'm the one bouncing around in a whoopie cushion costume!  Here it is in all of its glory!

{If it won't play directly on my blog, click on the "Watch on YouTube" link to check it out!}

During the last week of school, I always have my students write me a letter.  I have saved every letter from my past 7 years of teaching!  I received a priceless letter this year.  I love it because its so matter of fact, just like the student was!  Here it is!

"You teached all the things we learned."  Why, yes I did! :)

On the last day of school, my older sister went into labor!  I am thrilled to share that I am now an Aunt!!!  It has been so exciting to spend time with the little guy.  His name is Asher, which is from the Bible and means happy and blessed.  Here we are!

And here is an adorable newborn pic!

So precious!

After the school year ended, I officially started my school counselor internship.  Since I am already a licensed professional counselor, I only have to complete one school counseling course and a 600 hour internship to get my school counselor's license--pretty sweet deal!  I completed the course this spring and will have my internship {hopefully} done by next spring!  When school ended this year, I helped with some administrative tasks and kindergarten testing-- after testing the little ones for three days, I sure miss kindergarten!  They are SO funny!  My favorite line from a little guy was, "Hi, my name is Maddox, but you can call me Mr. Maddox."  Hahaha love it!

This summer, I will be busy relaxing by our pool, house hunting, spending time with Asher, tutoring a few students, {hopefully} blogging, and spending a week at Camp Quality as a counselor!  Let the fun begin!

Here are some posts that I have coming soon:

1)  Favorite Apps for iPads in the classroom
2)  A tutorial about the blog reader, Feedly
3)  How I utilized the Words Their Way program this school year
4)  My 500 Follower Giveaway!!!

If you are looking to enter a rad giveaway with a TON of great prizes, head on over to Ashely's blog @ The School Supply Addict!  I contributed one of my favorite products, All iLove About You, which can be used for Valentine's Day, Mother's/Father's Day, or any other occasion!  Click the picture below to enter!  The link will take you to today's giveaway, but make sure you stop by Ashley's blog each day this week for a new giveaway!

PS:  As you've probably read on a million blogs, Google Reader is disappearing as of July 1st!  If you are currently reading your blogs via Google Reader, you will need to import all of your blogs to a new reader service before July 1st!  Many bloggers are recommending Blog Lovin, which will work just fine.  I prefer a reader called Feedly, which I will be blogging about SOON!  Click below to follow my blog via Blog Lovin' or Feedly.

{Ok, Feedly is breaking my heart right now.  I just spent one hour trying to get that Feedly button to link directly to my feed and I can't get it to work... sorry... I will try again tomorrow!  To follow me on Feedly, just search for my blog directly!}
